Die Dokumentation erkundet anlässlich des 40sten Jahrestages der ersten Mondlandung am 20. Juli 1969 die Hintergründe, Motive und den möglichen Nutzen des erneuten Wettlaufs zum Mond. Wir nähern uns dabei dem Erdtrabanten mithilfe zweier Frauen, die in ihren Heimatländern führende Positionen in der Raumfahrt bekleiden: die Amerikanerin Kathy Laurini und die Inderin Shashikala. Sie leben und arbeiten auf verschiedenen Kontinenten, doch ihr Ziel ist dasselbe: der Mond.


Two women, one goal: return to the moon

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing on the 20th July 1969, the documentary explores the reasons, motives and possible advantages of the new race to the moon. We get to know more about the earth’s satellite with the assistance of two women, who hold leading positions in space exploration in their home countries: the American Kathy Laurini, and Shashikala from India. Although they live and work in different continents, they have the same goal: the moon.
